Bathroom Remodel

The following is an explanation for why it has been a while since we've done much posting.  However, we do have a bunch of recipes and pictures from the past couple months ready and waiting to be put up which should follow in the next few weeks.  Enjoy!

When we moved into our place a year and a half ago we knew the bathroom was bad, but thought that after a good scrub and a few fixes we would be able to make it look acceptable.  Below is a picture of what we saw when we first arrived.

The problem got worse though the longer we lived there, and all the scrubbing in the world did very little good.  Below is a picture of the bathroom after living there 1 year.  Yeah, it's pretty nasty.

We continued to mention the problem to our landlord, but nothing really happened.  When we said we thought we may have a mold issue he told us not to worry, "it is probably just mildew."  Then one day he was over at our place turning the water off for the winter.  That's when I finally had the chance to invite him into the bathroom to see for himself.  What finally made him decide to start a remodel was the sinking floor by the tub that I pointed out... who would have thought that the floor was the key to getting everything else fixed?!  Anyhow, they said it would take them 2 days and we agreed that they could do it over the winter break since we'd be with family most of the time anyway.  Well, after a week (not 2 days) they were still far from done and we were desperate to move back to our place, so, we made a deal to finish the project ourselves.  Last week we took our first shower (we had been using the tub for over a month) which was an exciting landmark, and today we moved in all the rest of the decor and bathroom needs.  We are very proud of our work considering what we had to work with, and I think my dad would be very proud of my painting job!  Below are a selection of before and after pics followed by a few pics once we got everything moved back in.  I promise I left the most disgusting pictures out.  Enjoy!

(This is an after shot from the 1st two pics posted at the beginning of this post.)
