Tried and True

Every Sunday we plan on posting one of our favorite recipes that have lasted the test of time instead of a new, possibly bad, experimental recipe. Today's "tried and true" are Outrageous Chocolate Chip Cookies (aka Craig's Cookies). This recipe is from Amish Cookbook.

1 cup sugar
2/3 cup brown sugar
1 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 cup peanut butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
2 cups flour
1 cup quick oats
2 teaspoons soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 (12 oz.) package of chocolate chips

Heat oven to 350 F. Beat sugars, butter, peanut butter, vanilla, and eggs until well blended. Add to dry ingredients. Stir in chips. Drop by teaspoonfuls 2'' apart on ungreased cookie sheets or spread evenly into a jelly role pan (this is our preferred method). Bake 10-12 minutes or until lightly golden brown around the edges (bar variation takes a bit longer). Cool 1 minute before removing from cookie sheet. Yield: 4 dozen cookies. Enjoy!
